Ain’t Nobody Got Time For That

What? What do you mean you don’t have time?

Us not having time is definitely a coined phrase in our culture for us to express we may not have time for drama, we may not have time to deal with our children, we may not have time for starting and running our own businesses, going back to school or taking those exams. We may not even have time to hear someone out for a few minutes.

But in actuality, we do have the time. We’re just bad with time management. Oh, did I strike a nerve? As a matter of fact, we spend our time on things that matter to us. Or as another saying goes, you make time for what you want to make time for.

If you’re reading or listening to this I just want you to know if you woke up this morning and you’re still living; you do indeed have time for ‘that’ but let’s be real on what you’re using it on.

The reason I decided to talk about our time management, idle time, wasting time is because many of us need a wake up call.

Some of us can be super lazy when God has called us to work towards something while we’re here. No, no, no, beyond the 9 to 5 lifestyle; there is a direct purpose that God has set out for each individual here to create or do. But it is up to us to use our time wisely.

Scripture mentions idleness enough for us to know that it’s not good to have a lot of time on your hands doing absolutely nothing. We were created to create things for the glory of God which I’ve mentioned in another post.

Google defines idleness as a state of inaction or inactivity. Idle may be used in reference to people that move lazily or without movement at all.

So what does idleness look like nowadays? Let’s see…

  • Scrolling on your phone for hours on end
  • Boredom
  • Talking just because/useless conversations
  • Gossiping
  • Watching way too much TV
  • Committing any sin
  • Doing a lot of things without accomplishing anything at all (glorifying busy)
  • Coming home from work not doing anything afterwards

Instead we should be…

  • Working on our purpose
  • Staying productive
  • Create Something
  • Read
  • Go walking
  • Pray

And last but not least, make sure you’re using your time to keep your promises to God because as 2 Peter 3:9 says, “The Lord is not slow in keeping His promise as some understand slowness. Instead He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.”

For you…
